First, let me say that I did not complete a project with Iconic Solutions - I attempt to before it fell apart and this review summarizes why it attempt to provide others with a cautionary tale. I contacted Iconic Solutions as an individual looking to pursue mobile application development for an idea I have been developing. I point that out up front because I think its ultimately the lesson learned here about my experience with Iconic and their CEO. When I first contacted Iconic and their CEO, they were very generous with their time in describing the development process and life-cycle. Additionally, they seemed very interested in working with me and trying to understand the underlining functionality that I wanted developed. Discussions continued for the better part of 1.5 months and things were moving in the right direction. Throughout the 1.5 months, the CEO gave off the distinct impression that work could begin very soon after a SoW was agreed to and I had already preliminarily gotten comfortable with the total cost of development. As we were a few steps away from a SoW, the CEO provided a more formal cost proposal and while it came out a bit higher than we discussed, he went out of his way to solicit feedback from me if it was outside my budget. The feedback that I ended up providing was that it was a bit higher (only 13%) than my budget. The CEO replied that we could figure out how to bridge that gap. So still things are moving in the right direction. Within a week or so, the feedback from the CEO changed dramatically about when this project could get started. He indicated that the company couldn't get started for 7-8 weeks AFTER a SoW was agreed to. This blindsided me and would not suit the deadlines that I have and the CEO knew this from our discussions over the previous 1.5 months. From there things took a dramatic turn. Upon simple questioning why the change in timeline, the CEO basically replied that due to my budget which was only 13% lower than the quoted proposal - Iconic could not meet the timeline for kick-off we had been discussing over the prior 1.5 months. Then out of no-where, he tried to pawn me off onto another company. One question after 1.5 months of discussions, and this guy very unprofessionally indicates his company probably can't help and that I should seek out services from someone else. Out of no-where after 1.5 months of discussions, this guy pulls the rug out. Of course I was taken aback by the CEO immediately suggesting that I work with another company after 1.5 months of positive discussions. Then the CEO went dark for a number of days and basically was very unprofessional in trying to get me to buzz off. My lesson here and the lesson for you out there is - I don't think Iconic Solutions and their management team is set up to work with individuals or 'start-ups'. If you are WRAL and want a weather app built then that is one thing but if you are a start-up on a deadline, don't waste your time engaging Iconic.
