Over a decade ago, I was introduced to Marina over a training call while in graduate school. At the time, I had just concluded studies in search engine optimization and mobile marketing and commerce. During the training, I was overawe with the custom websites designs and how the needs of the customer were the nucleus to the development process. There were no unforeseen expenditures, and the project management process insured that customers were involved and kept abreast of developments. When I decided to develop my own e-commerce site, I knew who to phone. I reached into my database, and contacted Marina. Still the pleasant erudite professional, I informed Marina about the requisite. Paul was the project manager. He did a exceedingly fine job of presiding over the development process. At times, it appeared intimidating. Nevertheless, Marina and Paul were there every step of the way. When there were questions, they had solutions and recommendations. I could not be more appeased with the final project. I own an online Pet Store and they’ve done a fantastic job with our site and the Amazon advertising portion. We’ve been incredibly profitable and are seeing a significant return. I hired Bluestone because I wanted an app for my business that my clients could download and keep on their phones and I wanted a professional-looking website. They charged me $16k to make a progressive web app that does nothing for me. I don’t use it. I get complaints because the app doesn’t download as expected. They did a truly terrible job allegedly designing a site. Their idea of design was to apparently recycle old pages they had done for other companies and spice it up by writing the page name twice using two different looking fonts. Hiring them was the most significant waste of money since starting my business. This experience does, however, provide two silver linings. First, I learned a lesson that cost me only $16k so it could have been more painful. Second, I have ten years to sue them for breach of contract so I can wait until I’m not so busy to file my complaint. They appear to know the right things to say to look good in business. Accordingly, they may post a response that amounts to “we are sorry you are disappointed. Please contact us so we can work it out.” Don’t fall for that. I have asked to speak to their lawyers as well as their business leaders with no response. I have not seen any evidence that they intend to work anything out and I get the feeling that they couldn’t care less whether I am happy with the product since I have already paid in full.
