The Barnett Company was originally founded in 1957, then Barnett Advertising Specialties, by Lyall Barnett and his son, Jean Lyall Barnett. Barnett Ad Specialties was one of the very first promotional advertising companies in the Baton Rouge area, and is still headquartered to this day just a mile from it's original location. In 1983 Jean's son, Michael Lyall Barnett, at the time just 24 years old and fresh out of Louisiana State University, took over and renamed. The Barnett Company was born.
