GMS Media has a track record of delivering in the clutch, and no project better demonstrates our might than the Insidious 3: The Darkest Chapter ad campaign. Our competence transformed a challenge into conquest as we partnered with Ted Perez + Associates to bring this evocative and gripping concept about a serial killer's origins to life.
Where other teams talked a good game but ultimately came up short, GMS not only succeeded but exceeded expectations in this series of spots—and Ted Perez earned an FWA Site of the Day award for the campaign.
We efficiently captured and amplified the popular Insidious franchise's disturbing aura with a video-centric experience that was both familiar and unique. This jarring addendum drips with haunting intensity, and fans of the films loved poring over these video morsels!
Who knew that the crucial breakthrough would come by casting the right child actor to perfectly inhabit the role of a disturbed farm boy? But that was the moment when creative magic, critical discernment, and professional ability converged to deliver irresistible results.
One challenge we faced was figuring out the proper way to approach a parent with the question, “Does your kid look like he could be a serial killer in the making?” Not only did we find the right seven-year-old for the role, but in fact, his entire family loves the horror movie genre!
Filmed on location in both Vancouver, WA, and Portland, OR, these chilling ads utilized rural landscapes and dilapidated interiors to achieve an authentic look, but without breaking the bank on set dressing.
