After I retired from Nike in 2019, I started 6453 ALUMNI, a network for former Nike colleagues and retired Nike-sponsored athletes to connect from all over the world. Having worked at Nike with Matt Watson in the past, I was really interested in involving him and his agency in some of the events we were planning for 6453 ALUMNI. Watson quickly became experiential in our global sustainability organization. I was initially referred to Mr. Chris Vacano by a mutual friend. This recommendation was made to me following a crash of my business website due to an attempted brute force entry into it's control panel by hacker of disguised identity. The marketing company that created my website was in the process of moving its corporate offices from California to South Carolina and required an outrageous fee to just evaluate the situation and the web hosting company maintaining my site was disinterested and minimally helpful. Chris evaluated my situation and implemented measures to get my site back up and running. He then implemented measures to insure that my website was secure with an array of "state of the art" security and authentication measures to insure that I had full control and safety of my website. This included a complete duplicate rewrite of my website using a superior website development platform. I learned the hard way that security of a business website is of utmost importance and if you are going to spend big bucks on a website the developer better know how to secure it and keep it secure. The previous agency's price point was attractive but often projects required more back and forth, ultimately driving up the end price of the project and leaving the projects often in a state of “good enough.” With Speak!, design is of higher quality from the outset, requiring less back and forth and as a result Speak! projects often come in under budget. I also know that with every project, I will truly be excited at what we have produced when finished working together.
