There is a lot of disorganization and mismanagement of the school. We were told that there will be instructors that are in the industry themselves, adequate one-on -ones, small class sizes, and obtain a job in the industry sooner. Although the sound of having instructors working in the industry themselves sound great, and they actually do try their best teaching us, many of them are not able to provide outside class time for help and advice. There are many classes I attended that included a lot of students, and the one-on-one with instructors is difficult to obtain without going overtime, especially when they have other tasks to do. The service is lacking organization; many requests don't get answered and is often ignored from students services and finance. The learning within the school is fast paced and there is a lot to take on in a single semester. While learning should be challenging, the heavy work load lead many of us a hard time getting our work done and lead to some burnout without having to retake courses. The school also don't offer electives and is rigid with scheduling, you won't be able to choose your courses. Online learning is okay, though many of us don't like the school's choice of using a specific software for online learning. I sense unhappiness and misery in the air underneath hard work and participation, and feel it is not student-driven. I only recommend VCAD for those who are passionate about their programs, don't mind the intensity and limited options, and have healthy boundaries and assertive communication.
