That means we don’t take investment; we have no salespeople; we watch our costs so we can be around awhile; we don’t advertise much, and we try to only work on stuff when we feel like we’re the best fit. We build work and relationships that will stand the test of time.
Learning and teaching are not an “add-on” here. They are a part of everybody’s core responsibilities. This comes alive in so many ways every month. Clique U sessions, lightning talks, guest speakers, educational stipends, community partnerships, hosting panels, developing curriculum for leading universities, teaching and mentoring at local bootcamps, building apprenticeship programs, speaking at conferences, the list goes on. None of us were “self-taught” -- we learned from somebody, either from a book, blog post, or example code. We fundamentally believe in the obligation of repaying that debt by sharing what we know. For you, this means projects are not just about the end deliverable, you will probably learn something too.
