If you’re a B2B marketer, chances are that you have heard of LinkedIn. It is the most widely used professional social network today. Did you know that there’s another audio-only social media platform called Clubhouse? Here, we will take a closer look at what Clubhouse is and why it can be beneficial for your business.
Clubhouse was launched in April 2020 by Paul Davison and Rohan Seth of Alpha Exploration Co. What started as a podcast app evolved into more of a live interactive talk show that allowed individuals to network through its audio-only feature. Think of it this way – you can actually be “on stage” with your favorite podcaster, or industry leader, and when you have something to add to what they are saying, you can – as simple as talking on the phone. Clubhouse filled a need for voice-to-voice connection of large groups of people throughout 2020 and into 2021 when we weren’t seeing as many people face-to-face as we were before. It’s once again changing the way we interact with others online.
Here’s how it works:
Clubhouse is currently by invitation only for iOS users as it is still in beta. The only way to get access to Clubhouse is through the invite of a current Clubhouse Member. When you receive an invitation and join, you can select audio-only chat rooms where individuals are talking about the topics that interest you the most.
When you “enter the room” you are either in the “audience” (just listening) or invited onto the “stage” where you can speak and add to the live conversation. At least one moderator in each room plays the role in 1) inviting others to speak, 2) moderating the dialogue, or 3) shutting down a conversation that may have gotten out of hand.
Rooms range in size from two individuals to 5,000 although the best rooms to be able to speak in are generally in the 50 to 500 person range where the conversation is about a topic you’re an expert in or are otherwise able to provide value to the conversation (excellent questions, for example). Want to jump from one room to the next? You can easily do so by leaving the room quietly which does not disrupt the conversation.
Clubhouse rooms (these are the areas where you enter to listen and/or speak) are typically created around a specific topic which you’ll see in your Clubhouse ‘hallway’. A Clubhouse ‘Club’ is a group of people who are interested in said Club/topic and multiple rooms can be made under that Club.
For example, if you’re a member of a Clubhouse business leadership Club, Clubhouse will show you rooms that have been created by other members of that Club so that you’re able to enter them as you desire.
Room to Connect and Grow
Clubhouse gives you a front-row seat in front of individuals who you may have never had the opportunity to directly encounter before its inception. Regardless of the time of day, when you’re ready to listen to what others are saying about the topics that interest you the most, there is a room for you.
It’s live, real, and uncut – just the kind of authenticity that many users are looking for in their social media experience. Moreover, users can listen and learn from others who are leaders in their fields whenever they are ready to talk – live. The connections that business leaders are making on Clubhouse are unique. It’s like having access to a live conference in your industry but on your schedule.
So what does this mean for you and your business? Whether you have been in business for a long time or a short while, you constantly adapt your plans and change as the economy progresses and evolves.
Like so many other business leaders, you are leaning into what the leaders in that industry are doing so that you can stay on top of the trends and experience new growth for your company.
This is exactly why so many have flocked to Clubhouse – for live, up-to-date information on the latest trends in their specific industry.
The Future of Networking
In addition to the learning aspect of Clubhouse, many new users are flocking to this social media platform as a way to connect and network with other professionals. Think of it as a virtual networking event that is happening daily – at all times of the day.
Ready to network using Clubhouse? Get your feet wet by listening, then asking to be on stage, and eventually co-hosting rooms with other business professionals. Co-hosting rooms mean that you get to share the network of the individual you are co-hosting with for a broad reach.
After you feel comfortable with the platform, you can venture out to be a featured speaker. Featured speakers share their wisdom and knowledge in their area of expertise.

Start Building a New Community
Are you ready to get started? This is how you can “get in” to this widely popular app: each new user gets two invites to send out to others when they join.
As they utilize the app more and get more involved, the number of invites they award increases (by either creating a room and speaking or joining a room and listening).
If you want to get on the app, start asking around to see if there is anyone who has invites that are not yet used up. Facebook groups are a good place to start for that.
Clubhouse is a community for entrepreneurs and business leaders to learn, share and grow. It’s the perfect place to find mentorship, advice on how to scale your company, or just connect with like-minded individuals.
Because it’s designed to make it easier for you to connect with other professionals in the industry, it may lead to increased sales opportunities. If you are looking for a way to increase your network, Clubhouse could be the answer!
