This article also features an UpCity survey on remote work policies and benefits.
We know working from home is here to stay, but how businesses implement them is still up in the air. Human resources professionals and companies are scrambling to find that “secret sauce” of what works best for their teams, whether that’s a hybrid operation, a four-day workweek, or another option.
To better understand what models businesses are moving toward, we partnered with Pollfish to survey 600 business owners and HR professionals. The Business Journals, a premier media platform for companies strategically targeting business decision-makers featured this study in a recent article with quotes from our CEO, Dan Olson.
“Encourage your employees to take time off — especially in this era where many disgruntled employees express feeling burnt out,” said UpCity CEO Dan Olson. “However, make sure your employees don’t also feel pressured to work late nights Monday through Thursday to get that extra day on the weekend. That will defeat the purpose of calling the four-day workweek a perk.”
“Four-day workweeks look like a great perk on the outside, but they may not be right for every company or industry. That doesn’t make your business any less competitive in today’s tight labor market,” Olson said. “Remember, it’s the flexibility that employees need. It’s not about the number of hours they’re putting in a week, but the quality of their work. Some of our survey respondents stated that they tried a four-day workweek, but ultimately their employees were more satisfied with a flexible hours setup instead.”
