Video Tutorial – Managing Queue and Scheduling Posts
This is part three of a 4-part instructional video series designed to get you acquainted with UpCity’s new Social Media Management tools, and show you the most useful, efficient, and downright cool functionality we have to offer.
Welcome back to our Social Media Management video tutorial series! Today, we’re going to talk about three areas of our platform that will help you plan and execute an effective social media strategy:
- Building a Content Queue
- Configuring and Using the Schedule Optimization Features
- Viewing and Managing your Post History.
Building a Content Queue
The content queue functionality allows you to curate multiple pieces of content in one session, to be posted at a later time, allowing you to plan and execute a content strategy days or even weeks in advance. Adding content to the queue is simple: from the Feeds interface, mouse over a content card you’d like to share, and you can either choose ‘Comment’ to change the message attached to your post, or ‘Quickshare’ to quickly add your post to the queue which will automatically include the article title and an author mention.
After you’ve added multiple posts to the queue, we can take a look at all of the posts we have scheduled on a network-by-network basis. In the left hand navigation bar, look under ‘Queue’ and click on ‘Messages’. You can now select an account from the tabbed bar on the left hand side, and view all of the messages scheduled for that account, as well as the date and time it will be posted. You can drag and drop these posts as you see fit, and their scheduled time will be adjusted automatically based on their position in the queue.
Configuring The Schedule Optimization Features and Scheduling Posts
Now that we have our posts ready to go, how do we change the frequency and timing at which they are sent out? Let’s head to the Schedule pane. Under ‘Queue’ in the left nav bar, choose ‘Schedule’. You’ll immediately notice the graph in the center of the page.
This graph depicts the times at which your audience has historically engaged with your content. Based on this information, our platform will automatically determine the optimal times to post content based on actual audience behavior. Under ‘Post at these times’, click the dropdown arrow next to optimize engagement. We’re going to set this account up to post 3 times per day. Click the dropdown for ‘posts per day’ and change the value to 3. Now, press ‘Optimize Engagement’, and the platform will automatically configure 3 optimized time slots.
To further customize your posting behavior, you also have the ability to turn off posting completely on chosen days, for example posting only on weekdays, by toggling days of the week on and off under the ‘Send on these Days’ area of the Schedule pane.
