This week, we’re helping our clients maximize the DIYSEO platform … We know that as a small business owner, every moment, of every day, counts. That’s why we kept our platform simple, intuitive, with support and reporting features that matter most to SMBs. Are you making the most of our do it yourself SEO tools?

Website Grader

For those just starting out, be sure to use our free web assessment tools. The SEO Report Card and Local Report Card will immediately let you know if your site gets a passing SEO grade. You need to access these tools from the homepage before you sign into your account.

Dashboard

As soon as you log in to your UpCity account, you’ll get an overview of performance on keywords and links, along with tasks completed and those ahead. The alert section tells you about changes in your SEO performance. Even if you haven’t completed any new tasks recently, take a moment to review your dashboard each week. You might be happily surprised to see that you’ve moved up the continuum and now are on the first page of Google.

Keywords

Start by selecting your keywords. We have a robust new keyword tool in Beta that will provide a range of keyword suggestions and how you rank. But more on that another day.

One of the most beneficial UpCity services is our free keyword consultation. If you’re not sure about what words are right for you, click ‘Request Expert Help’. One of our SEO Keyword Consultants will personally review your account and give you suggestions in the next 24 – 48 hours. Remember, these are people that look at 1000s of small business websites each month. They know what they’re doing.

Reporting

The Keyword Ranking and Link Analysis reports are easily accessible from your top navigation. These reports allow you to slice and dice the data to see your successes and opportunities.

Keyword Ranking Report

Keyword Ranking Report
  • Competitive analysis – Get a visual overview of your keyword performance compared to competitors
  • Edit the date – This is completely flexible. Look at your progress over time or a specific week when you ran a targeted marketing campaign.
  • Search engine selection – Select Google or Bing/Yahoo to see how you fared in the selected date range.
  • Targeted keyword – Review the performance for each individual targeted keyword.
  • Keyword analysis – At-a-glance data chart will show your rank for all keywords based on the search engine and selected date as listed above.

Fool around with it. Look at the difference in performance for you and your competitors. A big spike in one week might be worth exploring.

Link Analysis Report

Link Analysis Report

  • Inbound Link Count – Look at how many sites link to you and how you stack up against competitors.
  • Edit the date – Adjust dates to see how link performance has changed over time.

A word of caution: algorithms change as do data reporting methods. Don’t be overly alarmed if you see a drop in your link count, most often it’s a simple case of a change in data pulls. Your competitors have likely dropped as well.

Help Center

This is the gold! Questions, answers, glossary, and community feedback all targeted to small business SEO. Learn from people passionate about SMBs and get free tips with webinars and whitepapers on topics that matter the most. ‘Ask an Expert’ – allows you to ask a specific question about your SEO challenge to an expert SEO. Consider it a personal consultation. Yes, you can Google your question and wade through irrelevant comments hoping to find an answer. But our Help Center so much quicker, better, and relevant to you.

Here’s this week’s challenge. Take 30 minutes to test drive the tools you haven’t been using. Log into the Help Center and ask a question or request a free Keyword Consultation. Either way, you’ll be glad that you did and we’ll be happy to help.
