Background on Technorati

Technorati is a user generated web directory for blogs and media. Founded as the first blog search engine, Technorati has indexed more than a million blogs in its database. Along with indexation, it is a high quality web directory that categorizes, describes and links to resourceful websites.

In addition to capturing blog content, it keeps in mind the authority levels of submitted blogs, making sure that the directory is kept pristine and free of spammy, low value information.  All in all, Technorati is a great source for permanent, relevant links to your business.

You will need to create an account and fill out the requested information to submit your business to Technorati. Follow the directions carefully to complete your submission. It is important that you complete the profile information about your business to the greatest extent possible.

How to Submit Your Blog to Technorati

Step 1. Start at Technorati.com.

Step 2. Go to top of the screen and next to the search bar, you’ll see “Join.” Click it to submit your site. If you’re already a member you can sign in and skip to Step 5.

Step 3. Fill in all of your profile information to the best of your ability. Enter your First Name, Last Name, and Member Name. Once complete, hit “Join.”

Step 4. Next, you will receive an account activation link in your email inbox. Click it to continue.

Step 5. Once you sign in, go to your Accounts page (accessible by your Member Name in the upper left-hand corner). When you scroll to the bottom of that page, you’ll see your profile image and “My claimed blogs” underneath. Enter your blog URL and hit “Claim” to begin the submission process.

Step 6. At this point, you’ll have to fill in all of the important information about your blog. Type in your Blog Name, Feed URL, and social media links. You’ll also be asked to insert descriptive tags for search purposes. Once you finish, hit “Proceed to the next step” at the bottom of the page.

Step 7. After successfully submitting your blog for verification, you will be contacted with instructions to complete the claim procedure.

Step 8. Congratulations! You’ve completed the first steps to submitting your site to Technorati. As previously stated, what determines your submission into this directory is whether or not your blog is of a high enough quality.

Make sure blog is clean, crawlable, and provides value to a captive audience to ensure entry into the directory.
