Background on Your Business Address
Placing your physical address on your website’s contact page is both user and search engine friendly. For users, it enables them to get a clear picture on your business’s physical location. Visitors also use the contact page by default to find your business’s various methods of communication. On the search engine side, incorporating your address and directions into your website positively impacts your local SEO. Search engines like Google, Bing, and Yahoo rank businesses that include local data more highly than ones that do not. This is one of the best and easiest ways for local businesses to optimize their websites.
In this guide, we’ll walk you step-by-step on the proper way to place your address and directions into your website. Google Maps is going to be our platform for this walk through. Let’s get started!
How to Add an Address and Map to Your Contact Page
Step 1: Start at Google Maps.
Step 2: Enter your business into the search bar and locate your listing on the map.
Step 3: Click your listing and go to the gear icon at the bottom left corner of the screen.
Step 4: Click “Share and embed map” to continue.
Step 5: Once you’ve arrived at this window, you’ll be able to zoom into your place of business and augment the size of the map on the upper right-hand corner. Once you complete your customization, copy the HTML code at the top and insert it into your contact page through your content management system (CMS).
Step 6. Use the same method for your address. Copy the address from your map and put it into US standard format:
372 W. Ontario St. #301
Chicago, IL 60654
Paste this next to your map through your HTML code via your CMS.
Step 7. Congratulations! You have now inserted your business address and directions into your website.
