Background
Unique content on your website enhances user experience and avoids penalization from search engines. Your website content should not only be unique within your site but also across the web.
Displaying unique content on your website is one of the most important factors in contemporary search marketing. Yet, duplicate content is becoming more prevalent nowadays. Google may punish your site or get it filtered from ranking without you knowing if it is resembles low-quality or spam material, and it is easier than ever before for competitors to copy content from others. Therefore, it is essential that writers pay attention to what is published on a regular basis, and they should verify that their hard-earned quality and unique text is not plagiarized.
Luckily, checking for duplicate content is simple using Google or a popular plagiarism detection tool called Copyscape. We outlined both methods below.
With these methods, your website will escape the hesitation and worry about the rise of duplication.
Checking Duplicate Content Using Google
Step 1: Copy the specific phrase of the content that you wish to check. Paste the phrase in double quotes at the search field of Google.com, and click the “Google Search” button.
Step 2: All these results show the location of the content and where it is used on the web. You can also find other sites where your content could have been used. Ensure your site content is credible but carefully looking through the list. If duplicate content is found, you should remove or substitute it with unique content.
Checking Duplicate Content Using Copyscape
Copyscape offers free and paid solutions for plagiarism checking.
Step 1: Enter your website URL at Copyscape.com and click on the “Go” button.
Step 2: You will get results of all the duplicate content on the web.
Step 3: Open and check each link result.
Step 4: If your search results returns the backlinks to your website, then you can discard that result provided you are getting only one link.
Step 5: If you notice links from other websites for the same content, then this indicates duplicate content. You can then eliminate the copied material or replace with new content.
