Background on Facebook Pages

Facebook is the leading social networking site in the world, with more than one billion users to date. While Google Plus is certainly catching up, Facebook  reigns as the most trafficked social network for users to depend on to get their content and media. Coincidentally, Facebook is one of the most beneficial social networks and an essential component for any small business.

Facebook Pages for businesses are a great way to reach out to potential customers who are already on the app and leverage personal connections. Customers are also more likely to share your content with their own personal connections, which exponentially increases the range of your information.

A Facebook Business Page often ranks in the top search results for brand-related search terms. They also allow for better interaction between your brand and your fans. Many companies with Facebook Pages have already seen the positive benefit of communicating and engaging on a more personal level with their audiences. At no additional cost, businesses can easily post events, news updates, promotions, fan comments, surveys, videos, and widgets from the page.

This guide will demonstrate the simple process of creating a Business Page on Facebook. Note: Sign up for a personal Facebook account first, as you cannot manage a Business Page without one.

Create a Facebook Business Page

Step 1. Start at Facebook.com.

Step 2. Click “Create a Page” to begin crafting your Business Page.

If you are already logged into Facebook, go to “Pages” located the left of your News Feed and click it. Then click “Create a Page.”

Step 3. Create a business page by choosing “Local Business or Place.” If you do not manage a local business, select “Company, Organization, or Institution.” Facebook will prompt you to log into your account if you aren’t already.

Step 4. Choose a category that best describes your page. For local businesses, also fill in Business Name, Street Address, City/State, etc. to the best of your ability. Companies, organizations, and brands have to fill in Company Name. Agree to the terms of service, and hit “Get Started.”

Step 5. In the ‘Set Up Business Name” section, choose a Category and add a detailed description to improve the ranking of your Business Page in search. Take your time on this task, or be sure to go back and fill it in with more information.

Be sure to include your company’s URL and a unique Facebook address for your Page. Once complete with this section, click “Save Info.”

Step 6. Next, you will need to provide a quality profile logo or picture. You can choose to either import it from a website or upload it from your computer. Click “Save Photo” when you are done.

Step 7. Lastly, add the Business Page to your Favorites in order to access it more easily when you enter Facebook.

Once complete, pat yourself on the back. You’ve completed your Facebook Business Page!

– Post valuable content to your Facebook Page on a consistent basis in order to build a strong community of fans.

– Upload an engaging Profile and Cover Photo to add personality to your Page.
