Question One: Google has now given secure sites a rankings boost in the search engines. What do I have to do to make my site more secure?
Our Response: For context, Google announced that sites that have HTTPS encryption on their sites get a minor improvement in search rankings. The company has done this in order to ensure a much safer and more secure Internet experiences for its users. For now, it only affects less than 1% of global user queries, so the boost won’t be game-changing.
The process to move your site to a new encryption is outlined here. Move it today so you can start seeing the benefits to your SEO!
Question Two: I don’t see Authorship photos in Google Search anymore. Does this mean Authorship is not as important anymore?
Our Response: There’s nothing to fear on this front, rest assured! Google hasn’t removed the Authorship features from its search engines, it merely moved them to be specific to users logged into Google Plus. Additionally, your search results settings have to be personalized to you in order to have Authorship photos show up in search.
Simply put, if you want to become recognizable to Google Plus users, you’ll want to establish a prominent position as authors on Google Plus. As long as you have an active following associated with your social profile, you shouldn’t have any problems to contend with.
