Question One: I would like to expand my international marketing reach.  How can I use SEO to accomplish this? Are there International Directories and other tools to use?

Our response: Great question. International SEO is very similar to local SEO, in that you need to take into account location.

There certainly are international directories available online. Use Google Search to find International directories where you can submit your site. Here’s what we came up with:

White Pages International Resources

International Yellow Pages

International Directory of Search Engines

As for on-site international optimization, allow the option for visitors to translate your content if you’re targeting audiences that speak other languages. Keep track of what audiences from distinct countries respond to. Create subdomains of your domain to target different countries/languages, study what keywords are top of mind in those different countries, and most importantly, do the research on the international markets you are trying to reach.

It takes a lot of time immersing yourself in the culture of the international markets you’re after, but once you gain a little insight and begin testing your content for conversion and search traffic, you’ll see results that much faster.

Question Two: In recent news, I’ve heard Android is the fastest adoption of an operating system in history. What impact does this have on my business?

Our response: Mobile adoption is growing at a blistering pace. Businesses that have neglected to mobile optimize are missing out on a large percentage of traffic. Both the Android and Apple mobile operating systems have seen superb growth in the last year, and is looking to be even more successful as the year continues.

What can you do right now? Start mobile optimizing your website. Understand how your customers are using their smartphones, and gauge where your service can make a positive impact.

Make these changes and you’ll be well ahead of game compared to your competitors.
