Question One: I have a few sites linking back to me that are of low quality. How do I get rid of bad backlinks?

Our Response: Great question! Unnatural links can come from a variety of sources. One of the most notable are generally spammy websites that see your website has having relevant traffic to their targeted search terms. Often times they’ll link through comments or generally spammy content from their domains.

You can also get links from foreign websites, which doesn’t bode well for your website if it’s in a different country.

So, how do you find and eliminate these links?

SEOprofiler (free) and Majestic (paid) are two great tools to look up link profiles for your domain. This way, you get a top down view of the sites linking to you.

One way would be to get rid the current domain (a little drastic, but it is a solution). A simpler way of eliminating bad backlinks is to use Google’s Disavow Tool. Google cautions that this tool can hurt your ranking, especially if you don’t have links that are harming your rank.

Assuming there are, boot up the tool, include the bad backlinks. Click “Submit” and then you’re done!

Expect a 2-3 week wait for link removal.

Question Two: What’s the ideal length for a blog post?

Our Response: In all honesty, the length of your blog post doesn’t matter. However (and this is a big “however”), you have to be able to input quality in every aspect of your content.

According to this post by Neil Patel, longer is usually better, but don’t sacrifice quality for the sake of length. Put some thought and creativity in your post and let the audience do the rest!
