Question 1: I want to track only local keywords for my local business. Some team members have argued with me though. Should we even try to rank for some national keywords, or is there too much competition? How important is varying these keywords for a local business?
Our Response: Given that you own a local business, we recommend that you focus exclusively on local keywords when thinking about keyword targeting. As you stated, national keywords are highly competitive and may not justify the time and investments to increase ranking of such difficult keywords. If you want to include some national keywords, make sure that you add geographic or descriptive modifiers as well.
Question 2: I think my site is awfully slow when loading some of the pages. How can I test for page loading issues as a beginner SEO learner? How does this affect my SEO in the long-run?
Our Response: You can use a simple web tool such as the Pingdom Website Speed Test to check your page load times. The web page load time test is quick and easy. It is an important Google ranking factor that will affect your SEO ranking. In addition, delayed page load time often leads to user frustration and/or high bounce rates, so it’s best to avoid those situations when you can.
Question 3: What are some recommendations of free reputation management alert tools for my website?
Our Response: UpCity members can read the answer to many other SEO inquiries in the UpCity Ask the Expert Help Center. Members are encouraged to ask their own online marketing questions for their business, and our inbound marketing experts are on call to respond to all those questions.
