Question 1:  I submitted my listing to Google Local, but it is not showing up. Why would this be? Should I create a new listing?

Our Response: It can take up to several days for the newly verified listing to appear on Google Maps. Therefore, hold still and be patient if you do not see your updated location right away even if you see it listed in your account.

We advise you to not create a new listing because this might bring up duplication issues, which you want to avoid if you can. If for some reason your business’s Google Maps listing is not appearing after seven days, then try reaching out to Google.

Question 2: Tell me more about Facebook Graph and how it can help my business.

Our Response: Out of beta as of last week for U.S. useers, Facebook’s Graph Search is an accurate, real-time search to find answers, recommendations, and trends among your own Facebook connections. The social platform leveraged all of its users’ shared data to create this new product for its customers and partners. An easy and personalized drop-down list helps users along the search process.

The tool’s mix of content, search and social brings out a new and improved visibility for small businesses not seen before on Facebook. As an optimization strategy, it’s valuable for SMBs to fill their Facebook pages with high quality content, images, and videos. Consistent content that creates and encourages engagement is key to getting found and gaining detailed reporting about your customers. In addition, it’s crucial to ensure pages are set up with specific local information, correct categories and links, detailed descriptions of services/products, etc.

We are eager to see how the Graph Search will continue to benefit and affect small businesses, so be sure to stay tuned right here for more updates. Graph Search can be used in a variety of ways and we’re continuing to learn more about it on a weekly basis.Facebook hopes to continue to utilize customer feedback to improve the overall experience. To begin using Graph Search, you will need to “activate” it if you have not already. Find more answers about Facebook Graph Search here.
