At a high level, a mobile compatible site will help drive more sales and visitors, as well as increase engagement with social media. One important reason why maintaining a mobile site is important is because users are consuming the Internet from a different perspective. People are reading more content today than ever before but through multiple formats. A website seen through a small phone screen versus a computer screen gives a completely different experience. Therefore, the design environment should be considered and adapted for computer and phone visitors. With the major shift in mobile use, the usability of a website is crucial in order to produce an engaging and mobile-friendly experience.
No matter what type of user is browsing the website, the full experience should be accessible and enjoyable. From a small business owner’s perspective, concern over budget, time management, and lack of training are common themes. Not to worry! There are various solutions to a mobile-compatible design. Question 2: What are your thoughts on owning several domains for your small business rather than just one?
Our Response: Depending on your budget, timeline, and ultimate goals, most small businesses may be better off creating one comprehensive site that is filled with quality, unique, and valuable content instead of several separate sites. By owning various separate domains, a business will most likely have to build up credibility for each one and drive traffic. This takes much time, spend, and effort, versus combining everything under one domain that’s already spent time establishing itself. A site will most likely be able to gain significant authority and ranking capabilities than several smaller sites. This perspective is considered an SEO best practice. A relevant and trusted site also ensures Google will not view it as trying to game the system and submit duplicate content. We know that you’re not trying to fool Google in any way, but there’s always a risk that your rankings will decrease. We wouldn’t want you to take any chances and risk a penalty for your hard work.
