Question 1: I just started a business with my brother, and we are at a point now to look into buying a website. Where and how can I purchase a domain for my new business that I know I can trust?
Our Response: Purchasing a domain name for your small business is an essential first step in building and marketing your site. It’s important to note that registering a business domain takes some time and effort, so don’t try to rush it. Price ranges vary from a few dollars to WAY more than you’d think possible. Buying a domain can cost A LOT of money if you aren’t careful, so be sure to think about what factors you value most in a domain (amount of control, length, pronunciation, uniqueness, preferred extension, etc) before moving forward. We’d recommend the following websites to begin researching available domains: Namecheap, Name.com, Network Solutions, Register.com, Whois.com, DomainTools, and Go Daddy. Here are a few other essential tips to remember: Be creative and unique. Think about what keywords define the business. Ensure its impact. Get help from others, and work as a team. Last but not least, take your time!
Question 2: I have about 10 pages to my e-commerce website. How unique should my title tags be?
Our Response: To generate high search engine optimization results, we recommend that all web pages include a unique title. The page title defines a particular page to the reader and search engines. Titles should be carefully thought out and include your targeted keywords, but be careful of keyword stuffing. Not only does the title show up in search results, but it’s also a key factor to get the page ranked in search engines. In addition, the title gets displayed as the snippet or text that shows up in search engines results. View our SEO Title Tags for Beginners blog post for more information.
Question 3: Are meta keywords important for my website? I heard from someone that meta keywords don’t matter as much anymore as they used to.
Our Response: UpCity members can read the answer to this inquiry, as well as many others, in the UpCity Ask the Expert Help Center. Members are encouraged to ask their own online marketing questions for their business, and our inbound marketing experts are on call to respond to all those questions.
